• The capital city of Republic of South Africa is Pretoria, its nickname is "Jacaranda City" beacause there are beautiful blue and purple flowers bloom. this country count 50.000.000 habitants as of 2010. There are 11 official languages as Zulu and English and 30 ethnic groups. The climate in this country is subtropical, there is also a park name's Kruger National Park with animals as lions , girafs and crocodiles.

    Johannesburg is a "City of Gold" because gold was discovered that maked this city rich but now the problems are poverty and crime.

    Nelson Mandela was a famous historical man he was president of South Africa and he fought to separate different radical groups . He was emprisonned 27 years because he rebelled against the governement .

  • The Republic of South Africa located near Zimbabwe, the Botswana and the Mozambique is nicknamed "The Rainbow Nation" because there are 50 500 000 habitants and more than 30 differents ethnic groups and 11 official languages.

    South Africa contains a lot of cities like Soweto, the oldest and well known black residential district from 1930.

    Pretoria which is the capital is named "Jacaranda" to refer to beautiful blue purple flowers bloom on the 5500 trees.

    At least, Johannesburg, the "City of Gold" is the economic capital and the currency is the rand but it's also a city of crime and poverty.

    Now, let's talk about History:

    The first Europeans who settled in South Africa were the Dutch in 1652; Few centuries later, gold was discoverd in Johannesburg and made the city rich in 1886. From 1899 to 1902, British and Dutch fought to take control on the South Africa : it was the Boer War which the Britains won. 

     

    Then the law separated different racial groups legally and physically, marking the beginnig of the Apartheid in 1948.  

     

     

     

     

                   

    Nelson Mandela (1918-2013), a famous figure of South Africa was a black leader of the African Congress, he made a campaign to protest against Apartheid since 1960. Unfortunately, two years later, he was arrested for ploting against the government and spent 27 years in jails. 

     

     

    The year of 1990 herald the end of Apartheid and so Mandela's freedom.

    Nowadays, South Africa hosted two Wolrd Cup tournament : one of rugby in  1995 which it won besides the movie "Invictus" deals with this event and one of soccer in 2010.

    Prétoria is the name of the capital of South Africa. Her nickname '' Jacaranda city '' come from the beautiful blue and purple flowers which bloom on the 55,000 jacaranda threes during October and November.
    South Africa count a lot of languages: English, Afrikaans,Sesotho, Xhora,Zulu; moreover the subtropical climate offered a lot of sunny and hot days with cool nights.

     

     

    The first European who arrived in South Africa were the Dutch in 1652.
    In 1886 a gold was discovered in Johannesburg's that's why the nickname of this city is '' City of Gold ''

    The rugby world cup in 1995 was also a fact which unite people of South Africa
    The Apartheid started in 1941 and the event which really marked people was the creation of Soweto in 1948.
    In fact the Apartheid is the physicaly separation of different racial group.
    To finish, Mandela was arrested in 1962 wich entailed 27 years in jail for him.
